I realize that the Internet holds some wonderful opportunities for my children to learn or play.
I also realize there are areas of the Internet that are inappropriate for children. I know I must be
aware of these and assist my children to be safe on the Internet. I agree to the following rules:
1. I will not overreact if my child informs me that he or she saw something they did not
understand or is inappropriate while on the Internet.
2. I will learn what my child does and what websites my child visits on the Internet.
3. I will attempt to know my child's friends and contacts he or she has on the Internet. I
do so in reality, I should also in the virtual world.
4. I will compile a list of appropriate and recommended websites for children.
5. I will attempt to place the computer in a family area. Keeping it out of the bedroom and
the basement.
6. I will inform the proper authorities of any illegal activities or suspicious websites.
7. I will post and discuss computer guidelines and rules with my children. These rules and
guidelines will be written in a reasonable manner.
8. I will periodically check to see what sites may child visits and check what they post online.
9. I will consider using software to block or filter inappropriate material on the Internet.
10. I will spend quality time with my child together on the Internet.
